St. Paul’s Community Development Trust is aware of the recent allegations that Salma Hamid sent a number of tweets between 2014 and 2016 that were anti-Semitic in nature.

Salma became a Trustee and Chair of the Trustee Board in October 2019.

In the light of these allegations the Board of Trustees’ have with immediate effect suspended Salma from her Trustee duties.

St. Paul’s Trust is committed to encouraging diversity and eliminating discrimination both in its role as an employer and as a provider of services. Balsall Heath Community Festival – December 6th 2019

We are pleased to announce that the Balsall Heath Community Festival WILL be going ahead.

The Community Festival will now be taking place on Friday 6th of December between 4:30 pm and 7:30 pm.

Tickets for Santa’s Grotto are now on sale from Malvern Street Children’s Centre reception desk for £3.00 per child.

New Chair of Trustees Appointed!

My name is Salma Hamid and I was born and raised in Bordesley Green and Small Heath. I graduated in 1997 from the University of Central England as a Primary School Teacher and began working immediately. I got married in 1998 and moved to Moseley where I have lived for over 21 years with Rashid, our 3 wonderful children and our 2 cats.

Amsty Meets Mr Loan Shark!

On a cold and wet Wednesday afternoon, during half term, we were delighted to help Smartlyte Ltd with their event at the Balsall Heath Library.

Smartlyte’s, ‘Families Learning Together’ workshop, helped families to raise awareness of  the dangers of  online illegal money lending and loan sharks.  Families heard the story of how Amsty;  an old computer who lives in the Library, scared away Mr Loan Shark with the help of his friend Mrs Anti.

Birmingham schools to give out free food over the summer to help struggling families

Birmingham children are to be offered free food and activities during the 2019 summer holidays.

Happy Healthy Holidays has secured £2 million funding from the Department for Education in a bid to help 18,000 children over the summer.

The pilot programme is the largest of its kind and is being led by Accord Housing Association together with Birmingham Playcare Network, the Active Wellbeing Society, and Sport Birmingham.

Caroline Wolhuter, Head of Innovation and Impact at Accord, said: “We are delighted that Happy Healthy Holidays will be co-ordinating the roll out of this scheme in Birmingham.

Wanted: A Leader who can take St Paul’s on the next part of its journey

After many years’ service, the current Chair of Trustees of St. Paul’s Community Development Trust is to retire. St. Paul’s has gone through a challenging period but are now beginning to see growth in the organisation for the first time in over five years.

Announcement: Gill Coffin retirement

After over 40 years of loyal service to St. Paul’s Community Development Trust as a Trustee and Chair of Board of Trustees, Gill Coffin has decided to retire from her role at St Paul’s at the AGM in October. Having joined the organisation in 1979, Gill went on to be Chair of the Board for most of the following years.
