We were able to provide 20 play scheme places per day for children most affected by Covid over the Easter holidays. We opened for 9 days and ran afternoon sessions offering children healthy snacks and fun activities including Easter art & craft, sports and games, an Easter Egg Hunt, activities on the farm and trips out to Moseley Bog.
All the children were referred by our local schools and they really enjoyed themselves. The scheme was fully funded by ‘The Grimmitt Trust’ who have supported our play schemes previously and kindly donated enough funding to enable everything to be free of charge for parents. We were also donated Easter Eggs from the YMCA that were well received!
‘The play scheme helps my special needs child socialize and keeps her mentally stimulated and in a routine. She really looked forward to going and spending time with the animals and her friend. It made life much easier, I didn’t have to constantly think of ways to entertain her. We are very thankful for the farm, I hope it continues, it helps a lot of parents, especially those with SEN children.’
‘The play scheme gives the children a place to play with other children and it helps them develop skills of communication.’
‘I can see my friends and not be bored at home.’
‘I can play games’ ‘I like the farm.’ ‘I fed the animals, played hide & seek.’
‘You can express yourself a bit more.’ ‘I liked playing outside.’ ‘You can play all day!.’
‘It’s really fun and helps you connect with people during lockdown.’
