Family learning is any learning activity that involves both children and adult family members; where learning outcomes are intended for both and that contributes to a culture of learning in the family
Family learning is important as it has a positive impact on children’s and adults’ learning, develops greater confidence and self-belief and helps provides their literacy, language and numeracy skills.
All our Family Learning programmes, delivered in partnership with Smartlyte, value the family as a learning environment and promote a culture of raising aspiration in adults and young children.
Our programmes include Family Learning English, Family Learning Maths, Family Learning Employability, Science Fun days, Balsall Heath Book days, and many educational visits which have included Houses of Parliament, Theatre, Library of Birmingham, and many more.
“I understand now, that I need to learn in order to help my child.”
“The classes make me feel confident and stronger as a woman. Being part of the Family Learning group makes me feel supported all the time. I have friends who text me, if I have been quiet for a few days. They care for me.”
